On Friday, March 28, “Brothers for Bill” friends and family members rallied around the brave and inspiring patient—diagnosed with Lou Gehrig’s disease (ALS) more than 9 years ago—surprising Bill with a check presentation at the Carolinas ALS Center to celebrate recent fundraising efforts benefiting the Center through the Carolinas Garden of Hope. Chris Burgess, VP of Clinical Services for Med Emporium (Carolinas Garden of Hope Presenting Sponsor) was among the group of family and friends presenting the check to Dr. Brooks.
To date, more than $27,000 has been raised through the Carolinas Garden of Hope and associated Brothers for Bill events to advance treatment and research of ALS through the Center, as well as fund respite caregiving support. Through several motorcycle rides held through the Southeast year-round, as well as a recent annual golf tournament, Brothers for Bill not only raises funds to impact the care of ALS patients across the Carolinas, the events also generate awareness of the disease and raise hope for those living with ALS. The next charity motorcycle ride organized by Brothers for Bill will take place in June of this year. More event details are forthcoming on www.GiveCarolinas.org in the Calendar of Events.
