
Atrium Health Foundation President and Vice President of Philanthropy for NC/GA
In his role, Mark is responsible for driving all aspects of philanthropy and fundraising across the NC/GA Division.
Since joining Atrium Health Foundation in 2006, Mark has been instrumental in strengthening our culture of philanthropy and securing major gifts in the Greater Charlotte Region. He helped lead development efforts for the $500 million Giving Hope Campaign, and during his tenure, the Foundation has raised $700 million to support facilities, research, education and community health initiatives.
Mark has distinguished himself as a trusted partner in advancing our purpose, known for building strong philanthropic relationships, shaping transformational giving and cultivating high-performing development teams. He began his career with the Foundation in an entry-level role and has progressed through every major development position, most recently serving as Vice President of Development.
A graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a B.A. in Economics, Mark is a member of Leadership Charlotte Class XXVI. He received his Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) credential from CFRE International in 2012 and is actively engaged in the Association of Healthcare Philanthropy. He was named as one of Charlotte’s 40 Under 40 by Charlotte Business Journal in 2019.
Mark is married to his high school sweetheart, Katie Rapisardo Griffith, and together they have three active boys. Outside of work, he enjoys playing golf, coaching Little League baseball and participating in his boys’ sports and extracurricular activities.
