CHARLOTTE, N.C., May 18, 2020 – In the wake of COVID-19, AT&T has stepped forward with a $25,000 donation to the Atrium Health Essential Needs Fund, which offers relief for healthcare employees, such as protective equipment, technology, meals, and lodging.
The gift will support a campaign that has been created to provide meals for thousands of Atrium Health employees. To date, donations to the campaign have funded over 64,000 meals.
“Just as all our lives have been impacted by COVID-19, everyone can play a part in helping neighbors and communities through these days,” said Kathleen Evans, regional director of external affairs for AT&T. “We are pleased to be able to support the Foundation in making a difference for health care professionals and their families.”
AT&T is working closely with Atrium Health to ensure the organization’s healthcare workers benefit from this relief effort. Healthcare employees will receive meal vouchers or gift cards to several local restaurants. More than 250 employees have already received gift cards directly purchased by AT&T.
In addition to providing meals for employees, AT&T donated tablets to Atrium Health, which were deployed to the nursing team for immediate use in communicating with patients and families.
“We are grateful to AT&T for stepping forward to generously support our caregivers and address the critical financial needs in our community,” said President of Atrium Health Foundation Armando Chardiet. “And we look forward to other businesses stepping up and developing similar partnerships with us.”
