CHARLOTTE, N.C., January 19, 2021 – Earlier this month, superheroes took to the streets, neighborhood parks, and their own backyards to join 24 Foundation for the inaugural “24,000 Mile Challenge.” The two-day virtual event, which encouraged community supporters to collectively complete 24,000 miles of activity, has raised over $41,000 to support the greatest heroes of all – children battling cancer.
Atrium Health Levine Children’s Hospital had tremendous representation from several patient families and teammates. Dr. Jennifer Pope and others from the Pediatric Hematology and Oncology department participated in the challenge to help raise funds for important survivorship programs at Levine Children’s. Wren Jansen, a Levine Children’s patient and leukemia survivor, also participated in the challenge alongside event sponsor Orange Theory Fitness. Several others from across Atrium Health also joined in support of Levine Children’s, including Dr. Chasse Bailey-Dorton, a longtime supporter of 24 Foundation’s signature fundraising events and chair of the 24 Foundation board of directors. In keeping with her outstanding support in years past, Dr. Bailey-Dorton received special mention as a top individual fundraiser for the 24,000 Mile Challenge.

This year’s 24,000 Mile Challenge was made possible by presenting sponsor Towne Bank, hundreds of community supporters, and the dedicated team at 24 Foundation which continues to fulfill its mission to impact the lives of those affected by cancer. To date, the charitable organization has raised more than $5.5 million collectively for Levine Cancer Institute and Levine Children’s Hospital through community fundraising events, supporting adult and pediatric cancer survivorship and wellness programs.
