About the Professional Advisory Council
The Professional Advisory Council (PAC) was established in 2019 to support Atrium Health Foundation’s planned giving program. The Council, which is currently made up of 17 distinguished professionals, offers financial and estate planning expertise to individuals who are interested in making a legacy gift to one of the nearly 300 charitable funds established at the Foundation. Each Council member serves a 3-year term and acts as an important advocate for Atrium Health throughout our communities.
Introducing PAC Member Steve Sims, CFA
Steve Sims, CFA, is a vice president at New Republic Capital, the investment management entity of New Republic Partners. In his role, Steve advises his clients on wealth management and investment solutions, including philanthropic giving. Throughout his career, Steve has been a deep believer in philanthropy and volunteerism. When asked why he serves on the PAC, he shared, “Philanthropy is vital to maintaining the research and innovation needed to be a leading-edge medical facility, improving patient outcomes and creating a stronger community, and I wanted to be involved to support healthcare in a meaningful way.”
Steve is intimately aware of the impact that healthcare workers make in the lives of patient families. His wife, Jenny, is a former Pediatric Intensive Care Unit nurse and has always shared her experiences at work with her husband, telling stories of the heartfelt compassion doctors, nurses and staff have for their patients. Steve’s interest in supporting a local health care system grew after his family relocated to Charlotte in 2018 and as his family has continued to grow; the couple has three young children, Lizzy, Luke, and their newborn son Johnny.
In addition to serving on the PAC, Steve is a member of the Levine Children’s Hospital Dreamcatcher Society. The father of three is especially interested in giving back to pediatric initiatives at Atrium Health, supporting leading-edge treatments for other children in the community.
