As part of its “for all” mission, Atrium Health is committed to not only caring for patients across its 1,400+ care locations, but to bringing hope to every corner of the communities it serves. Over the past few years, Atrium Health has continued to develop innovative telemedicine solutions to reach residents living in areas with limited access to care.
With support from philanthropy, including a recent $10,000 grant from Corning Incorporated Foundation, Atrium Health’s experienced telemedicine team is now piloting a program that will provide the community surrounding the I-85/Sugar Creek intersection with exceptional clinic access.
Atrium Health has partnered with Northside Baptist Church, which has donated space for the clinic. Residents in this area struggle with poverty, food and housing insecurity, trafficking, violence, lack of employment, and overall poorer health and shorter life expectancy. The pilot program, which began in August of 2021, is linking Medicare, Medicaid, and uninsured patients with primary care, behavioral health support, and health coaching, serving individuals and families within their rhythm of life.

At the Atrium Health Community Telemedicine Clinic at Northside Baptist Church, an onsite health care technician will assist each patient in the completion of an enhanced video visit. Using a secure telemedicine platform and innovative technologies, a medical provider located remotely will complete a comprehensive health examination and develop a proper treatment plan with the patient, including prescriptions, follow-up care, and connecting them to appropriate social services when needed.
