On July 29-30, 2022, 24 Foundation hosted its annual 24 Hours of Booty in Charlotte, North Carolina. The signature event, which raises funds to support local cancer programs, received support from hundreds of donors, cancer survivors, and avid cyclists. Through the organization’s steadfast commitment to improving the lives of individuals and families affected by cancer, as well as the generosity of those who participated in the event, 24 Foundation raised a record-breaking $1.3 million for Atrium Health Levine Cancer Institute and Atrium Health Levine Children’s, among other local beneficiaries.
This year’s event welcomed community supporters back together on the “Booty Loop,” situated in the historic Myers Park neighborhood. Among those in attendance was Dr. Chasse Bailey-Dorton, Chief of Integrative Oncology at Levine Cancer Institute, who helped kick off the 21st annual event. A longtime board member of 24 Foundation and a cancer survivor, Dr. Bailey-Dorton has been intimately involved with 24 Hours of Booty for over a decade.
“Because of the funds raised by 24 Foundation, we have been able to develop one of the strongest integrative oncology and supportive care programs in the country – here at Levine Cancer Institute and at Levine Children’s Hospital under the leadership of Dr. Jennifer Pope,” shared Dr. Bailey-Dorton. “As the Chief of Integrative Oncology at LCI, I have the honor to develop programs and see the funds raised directly impact patients affected by cancer. As a participant and fundraiser for 24 Hours of Booty, I am able to give back to my local cancer community. As someone who lost their mother to cancer, I am able to honor and cherish her memory through this event. And, as an almost 20-year cancer survivor, I get to celebrate life at 24 Hours of Booty with the friends, family, and patients I love.”
Dr. Bailey-Dorton gave opening remarks at the event, emphasizing the impact of 24 Foundation’s partnership, then biked alongside teammates in support of cancer survivorship and wellness programs at Atrium Health. Together, she and Team LCI raised nearly $25,000.

At the event, the Jones and Slocum families were also recognized for their generous support of 24 Hours of Booty. Their participation is a moving tribute to their children, Libby and Drew, who both sadly passed away from cancer. This year, members of Team “Libstrong and Drew’s Crew” celebrated a remarkable milestone, surpassing $1 million in lifetime fundraising for 24 Foundation.
With backing from Charlotte’s cancer community, 24 Foundation has donated nearly $6 million to cancer initiatives at Atrium Health, including Levine Cancer Institute’s and Levine Children’s Hospital’s supportive oncology and survivorship programs and Levine Cancer Institute’s patient navigation program. Through the organization’s transformational support, more patients will continue to have the opportunity to participate in holistic, evidence-based treatments, like massage therapy, acupuncture, and music therapy.
