Ally Charitable Foundation Invests in Atrium Health’s Workforce Development Pathways with $5 Million Gift
On November 14, Atrium Health announced a $5 million gift from Ally Charitable Foundation to support equitable opportunities for individuals to pursue careers in healthcare. The gift establishes the Ally Charitable Foundation Workforce Development Center of Excellence as well as the Ally Charitable Foundation Workforce Development Scholarship Fund.
Through the Ally Charitable Foundation Workforce Development Center of Excellence, individuals from historically marginalized or diverse populations will have access to a variety of career development pathways to seek their education. The Ally Charitable Foundation Workforce Development Scholarship Fund, established with $1 million of the gift, will provide $50,000 per year for scholarships to Carolinas College of Health Sciences. TowneBank Invests in Pathways to Health Care Careers
On November 28, Atrium Health announced a $500,000 gift from TowneBank to support underrepresented students who are pursuing careers in health care. The gift will create scholarships available to incoming students at Carolinas College of Health Sciences, in Charlotte, with the goal of increasing the diversity of the student body and ensuring that students from disadvantaged backgrounds will have equitable opportunities to pursue their desired professions. Children’s Miracle Network Partner News:
A Bucket Full of Miracles
This August, Ace Hardware customers had the opportunity to save big while giving back during the annual Bucket Days campaign for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. In the Charlotte area, eight locations participated in the fundraiser for Levine Children’s Hospital, selling 5-gallon buckets per $5 donation, then offering savings on nearly every item customers could fit inside their buckets. At Levine Children’s, teammates joined in the festivities by competing in Atrium Health Foundation’s very own Ace Hardware Bucket Challenge. This year, six teams competed in the design challenge, and donors cast their votes for the winning creation. Thanks to generous donations, this year’s winner was the Neonatal Progressive Care Nursery (NPCN) at Levine Children’s Hospital.
A Million Reasons to Love Costco
During Costco’s annual Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals campaign, local warehouses led fundraising efforts for Levine Children’s Hospital. Through the month of May, members who visited participating locations in Matthews, Mooresville, and Charlotte had the opportunity to donate at the register for patient care initiatives. Thanks to store associates and members who donated to the campaign, Costco raised over $106,000.
Walmart & Sam’s Club: Helping Kids Live Better
Every summer, Walmart and Sam’s Club join forces for the “Help Kids Live Better” campaign benefiting local Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. This year, 68 Charlotte-area locations participated in the fundraiser for Levine Children’s Hospital. With support from associates, customers, and members donating online and in stores, $422,000 was raised for state-of-the-art medical technology, leading-edge treatments, and patient support resources.
Sweet Miracles Happen at Dairy Queen
On July 28, Dairy Queen employees and customers helped celebrate the sweetest day of the year: Miracle Treat Day. During the one-day fundraiser, $1 from every Blizzard® Treat purchased at 16 Charlotte-area restaurants was donated directly to Levine Children’s Hospital. To date, Miracle Treat Day and other DQ Round-Up campaigns for Levine Children’s Hospital have raised nearly $300,000.
National Gypsum Announces $25,000 gift to Atrium Health Levine Children’s
In conjunction with #GivingTuesday, National Gypsum announced a $25,000 gift to Atrium Health Levine Children’s Hospital to support pediatric patient health initiatives within the Greater Charlotte region. The health system is among 40 nonprofit organizations and schools across the country to be selected for funding. A check presentation took place at Atrium Health Foundation on November 29.

Hyundai Hope On Wheels Awards $300,000 Grant to Atrium Health Levine Children’s
This October, Hyundai Hope on Wheels awarded a $300,000 Hyundai Scholar Hope Grant to Atrium Health to advance pediatric cancer research at Atrium Health Levine Children’s. The award was presented at a special handprint ceremony, during which two Levine Children’s patient families were honored and joined by members of our pediatric cancer research team. The grant award will support research conducted by Dr. Giselle Saulnier Sholler (pictured left) and Dr. Jeffrey Huo to develop a potential treatment for two non-medulloblastoma pediatric embryonal brain tumors. Advocate Aurora and Atrium Health Complete Combination
After sharing plans to come together in May, Advocate Aurora Health and Atrium Health announced last Friday they have closed on their formal combination to create Advocate Health. The combined organization will focus on best meeting patients’ needs by redefining how, when and where care is delivered. In addition to delivering the best health outcomes and making care more accessible and affordable, Advocate Health is committed to being a force for meaningful social impact. The organization aims to bring medical innovations to patients more quickly, address the root causes of health inequities, advance population health, enable career advancement and achieve carbon neutrality by 2030. American Cancer Society Honors Atrium Health with its Inaugural Health System of the Year Award
Atrium Health has received the American Cancer Society (ACS) Health System/Patient Support Team of the Year award, a national honor presented for the many successful efforts Atrium Health has implemented to improve the lives of cancer patients and their families.
The award recognizes Atrium Health for exemplary, holistic cancer care, which includes Atrium Health Levine Cancer Institute bringing advanced techniques to fight cancer across the Southeast, applying early detection programs, and focusing on strategies to enhance the quality of life for patients. Help Patients Breathe Easier
The Union Pulmonary Patient Assistance Fund supports group programs, patient educational materials, special equipment and supplies, and follow-up care for uninsured and underinsured pulmonary patients residing in Union County or Anson County. For qualifying underserved patients, the Fund improves access to care by helping to cover the cost of basic necessities, such as transportation to medical appointments.
Support patients of Atrium Health Behavioral Health
During the holiday season, patients of Atrium Health Behavioral Health benefit from a variety of in-kind gifts and meals provided by Atrium Health teammates. Monetary gifts can be made to the Carolinas Behavioral Health Advancement Fund to help cover the cost of patient support services, meals, and other vital resources our staff provides to patients on a daily basis.
