On October 18, multi-award-winning songwriter and recording artist Anne Steele delighted audience members during a special fundraising concert held at Middle C Jazz. Organized by MusicLand Gift Foundation, the event was attended by over 100 community members and raised nearly $50,000 for the Integrative Oncology program at Atrium Health Levine Cancer.
MusicLand Gift Foundation founder Kenny Kahn was diagnosed with an aggressive form of non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma in 2021. During his treatment at Levine Cancer, he discovered the healing power of Integrative Oncology — a holistic approach to care that addresses the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of patients and their family members in an effort to reduce the side effects of cancer treatment.
“My friends and family helped create playlists for me while I was receiving treatment, and I found a great escape with music,” said Kenny. “These gifts of music gave me enormous peace and joy during the roughest days of my life. So, in the midst of going through my cancer journey, my goal has become to help others who are on their cancer journey by bringing some peace and happiness into their worlds.”
Kenny and his daughter, Rachel, established MusicLand Gift Foundation to ensure other patients have access to Levine Cancer’s life-improving services. Their mission is to transform the cancer journey through personalized gifts and experiences that celebrate the life-enhancing power of music.

“There is someone that none of us are probably are ever going to meet that needs a massage, that needs physical therapy, that needs to talk to someone, that needs acupuncture,” said Kenny. “We’re thankful to be able to support what Levine Cancer does. We’re happy to be able to support the many patients whose insurance may not cover these treatments.”
