After years of visionary leadership and service, Armando Chardiet, president of Atrium Health Foundation, will retire on January 30, 2026. While it is difficult to imagine our Foundation without Armando’s steady guidance and passion for philanthropy, we are deeply grateful for the extraordinary legacy he leaves behind.

Since joining Atrium Health Foundation in 2017, Armando has been a driving force in strengthening our culture of giving and advancing transformative philanthropy across the Carolinas. Under his leadership, the Foundation has raised funds to fuel innovation, expand access to care and improve outcomes for patients and families at Atrium Health.

Among Armando’s many accomplishments, his leadership of Giving Hope stands as a defining milestone. Launched as Atrium Health Foundation’s $500 million, comprehensive seven-year philanthropic campaign — the largest in Atrium Health’s history — Giving Hope has already raised $403 million to date. This remarkable achievement reflects Armando’s clear vision, strategic leadership, and ability to inspire generosity at every level.

Armando’s impact extends far beyond fundraising totals. His unwavering belief in the power of philanthropy — and in the people who make it possible — has shaped our organization in lasting ways. Colleagues, donors, and partners alike know him as a thoughtful leader, a trusted advisor, and a tireless advocate for the mission of Atrium Health.

Over the course of his career, Armando has held leadership roles with some of the nation’s most respected organizations, including Cleveland Clinic, the University of Pennsylvania Health System, Washington Hospital Center Foundation, and the American Red Cross. Here in Charlotte, he has continued his commitment to service through board and leadership roles with the Lynwood Foundation, YMCA of Greater Charlotte, World Affairs Council, Wells Fargo Championship, and the Mint Museum, as well as serving as executive sponsor of UNIDOS.

As he transitions into retirement, Armando looks forward to spending more time with family, traveling and remaining engaged in the community through service on nonprofit boards. While we will miss his leadership and daily presence, we are excited to celebrate all that he has accomplished and the lasting impact of his work.

We congratulate Armando Chardiet on his retirement and thank him for his extraordinary contributions to Atrium Health Foundation and our communities, and the countless lives touched through his philanthropic leadership.
