On July 26-27, 2024, 24 Foundation hosted its annual 24 Hours of Booty, bringing together donors, cancer survivors, and avid cyclists to support local cancer navigation and wellness programs. Thanks to the organization’s commitment to improving the lives of individuals and families affected by cancer, as well as the generosity of event participants, $1.5 million was raised for several beneficiaries, including Atrium Health Levine Cancer and Atrium Health Levine Children’s in Charlotte.

The 23rd annual event welcomed participants and spectators to the “Booty Loop” in the Myers Park neighborhood. Among the attendees were over 65 members of Levine Cancer Institute and Levine Children’s Hospital, who raised over $40,000 for the cause. Dr. Ruben Mesa, president of Atrium Health Levine Cancer, helped kick off the event with a personal message:

Every one of us has been impacted in some way by this disease. I lost my own father to cancer – and I’ve dedicated my career to the treatment and search for a cure. At Atrium Health, we provide the very best cancer care to our patients and families. And our research teams are collaborating across the region to work toward a cure. Our cancer programs in the Carolinas are unified under the Levine Cancer umbrella – and we are stronger and better, togetherWe credit this strength, in large part, to philanthropy. Support from organizations like the 24 Foundation propels us to national excellence.”

At the event, Miya Trigg delivered a moving rendition of the National Anthem. Diagnosed with medulloblastoma, a type of brain tumor, Miya is currently undergoing chemotherapy at Levine Children’s Hospital. Her love for singing has been a powerful source of strength throughout her treatment journey.

With the support of Charlotte’s cancer community, the 24 Foundation has contributed more than $28 million to local cancer initiatives. This includes funding for supportive oncology and survivorship programs at Levine Cancer Institute and Levine Children’s Hospital, as well as the patient navigation program at Levine Cancer Institute. Thanks to this generous support, more patients will continue to have access to holistic, evidence-based treatments such as massage therapy, acupuncture, and music therapy.
