Every day, Levine Children’s Pediatric Gastroenterology experts deliver award-winning care for the full range of digestive system disorders. To help meet the unique needs of her patients, Dr. Tiffany Linville established the inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) multidisciplinary clinic at Levine Children’s Hospital, which provides IBD-specific education and support for children and their families.
Thanks to a $15,000 grant from AbbVie, Levine Children’s integrated team of physicians, dietitians, social workers, psychologists, and nurses recently hosted an IBD education event for patient families and practitioners. Roughly 100 people were in attendance for the first of two events being sponsored by AbbVie. Families participated in disease-focused presentations and break-out groups, fostering learning and meaningful connections amongst each other.
“I really cannot describe the appreciation our team has for this generous grant,” shared Tiffany Linville, MD, Director of the Pediatric Inflammatory Bowel Disease Program, Atrium Health Levine Children’s. “All the patients and families were so thrilled to be in an environment outside of the clinic to ask questions and learn more about their disease. We had several families exchange contact information, and I think the event will organically spark more engagement from these patients. We have sent out a survey and the responses have been outstanding. I think it will be interesting to look back and see how these types of programs improve outcomes for patients.”
