Since 2014, UTC Aerospace Systems have come out in full force for the annual Hopebuilders 5K—the signature fundraising event benefiting Carolinas HealthCare System’s Levine Children’s Hospital. For the past two years, more than 200 cohorts wearing matching corporate shirts made quite an impact at the event – and raising $23,306.00 since 2014 in the process. This year set a new record for UTC involvement in the Hopebuilders 5K, with 11 teams gearing up to participate in the event next weekend. The UTC Aerospace family consists of the Monroe office as well as Carrier Corporation as they are all fundraising on behalf of Hopebuilders.
Special thanks goes to Cynthia Forbes, and Team Captains Lauren Bier, Natalie Dado, Christa Rendino, Wendy Wilkerson, Angie Gwinn, Andre Powell, Shandra Stout, Alison Davidson, Pete Luksas, and to UTC Aerospace President Dave Gitlin, for their involvement as Hopebuilders 5K team leaders this year.
Meet UTC’s Guiding Force
When David Gitlin is not busy leading his team at UTC Aerospace Systems, he is dedicating considerable time to his community. As President of the Aircraft Systems business segment at UTC, which relocated to Charlotte in 2014, David encouraged his company to invest in the community. He set the tone by joining the Dreamcatcher Society, a philanthropic group that raises funds for projects at Levine Children’s Hospital. In addition, he energetically accepted the invitation to serve on the hospital’s board of ambassadors.
