More than 1,000 cancer advocates, survivors, volunteers, and donors hit the streets and the Carolina Panthers practice field for the 8th Annual Keep Pounding 5K, presented by Rodgers. The event raised record proceeds of $125,000 to benefit adult and pediatric cancer research and patient programs at Levine Cancer Institute and Levine Children’s Hospital.
Sir Purr, the TopCats, and friends and family cheered on participants at the start line and as they ran though the cat-head and cross the finish line. Carolina Panthers coach and former player Sam Mills III, and WCCB news anchor Morgan Fogarty, assisted with the awards ceremony.
Top Fundraising honors were awarded to cancer survivor Audrea Norris and to Team Po-Z-tivity, formed by Dr. Zvonimir Milas, a cancer survivor and surgical oncologist at Levine Cancer Institute. Also among the top fundraising teams was Wren’s Village, formed in honor of 5-year-old cancer survivor Wren Jansen and the pediatric oncology clinic at Levine Children’s Hospital.
