On Wednesday, November 29, and Thursday, November 30, HITS 96.1 radio listeners tuned in for the 2nd Annual Miguel & Holly’s Miracle Makers Radiothon, presented by Mark Ficken Ford Lincoln. Broadcast live from Seacrest Studios, the two-day event raised $345,095 for Atrium Health Levine Children’s.
Inside Levine Children’s Hospital, patient families, teammates, and community champions shared the significance of having a world-class children’s hospital in Charlotte, NC. Jenny Sage, mother of three, recalled the care her family received, “The Child Life team worked with Gracie and her siblings to make them feel more comfortable. The social workers met with us to discuss financial resources, school resources, and all of the things that you don’t even think about when you get a cancer diagnosis. [The hospital] really has touched every part of our lives.”
During the final hours of the radiothon, the Wells Fargo Championship surprised listeners with a tremendous donation. “On behalf of Wells Fargo, the Wells Fargo Championship, our entire board, our thousands of ambassadors, the hundreds of thousands of fans who come out and support the Wells Fargo Championship, and all our corporate partners, we are so pleased and proud to donate $300,000,” announced Gary Sobba, tournament director for the Wells Fargo Championship, which has been a partner of Levine Children’s for over 20 years.
“It’s heartwarming to see our community come together in such a big way to support Levine Children’s,” said Kelsey Wilson, senior development officer at Atrium Health Foundation. “The programs that set our children’s hospital apart, and that our families rely on, are made possible because of philanthropy. Support of this year’s radiothon will help to continue and expand these resources, while also funding critical medical equipment and research.”
Thanks to overwhelming support from the Wells Fargo Championship, along with presenting sponsor Mark Ficken Ford Lincoln, HITS 96.1 and iHeartMedia Charlotte, hosts Miguel Fuller and Holly O’Connor, Famous Toastery, and hundreds of donors, this year’s Miracle Makers Radiothon will give Levine Children’s families hope for a bright and healthy future.
