Carolinas HealthCare Foundation is grateful to Belk, Inc. for advancing cancer treatment and research across the Carolinas through a generous $50,000 donation to Levine Cancer Institute in connection with the 2013 Belk Bowl (an additional $10,000 was donated by Belk, Inc. to Levine Children’s Hospital). Prior to game day, Levine Cancer Institute hosted the spouses of coaches from the two teams for a tour and brunch at the facility. Attendees enjoyed an update on Levine Cancer Institute and cancer prevention from Dr. Edward Kim and Dr. Chasse Bailey-Dorton. Belk’s generous donation will specifically support the Carolinas Breast Cancer Fund, which was first established by grateful patient families at Levine Cancer Institute. The fund chiefly supports patient education and outreach programs for breast cancer patients served by Levine Cancer Institute, as well as clinical research and treatment initiatives associated with breast cancer.
