This afternoon, friends and board members of the Paula Takacs Foundation for Sarcoma Research gathered at Carolinas HealthCare System’s Levine Cancer Institute to present a check for $100,000 to support sarcoma research programs underway at Levine Cancer Institute.
Since 2013, the Paula Takacs Foundation for Sarcoma Research has donated over $167,000 to support sarcoma research at Levine Cancer Institute. Although Paula Takacs, founder of the charitable organization, lost her fight with sarcoma this April after a nine year battle, her legacy continues as her family and friends carry out a variety of community fundraising initiatives. Paula was an inspiration to many as she bravely turned her own fight with cancer in a positive direction by dedicating her time and energy into creating awareness and helping to advance sarcoma research for others.
In addition to their announcement this afternoon, earlier this week friends of the Paula Takacs Foundation gathered at Carmel Country Club for “Playing for Paula”, a celebration of the life and legacy of Paula Takacs. “Playing for Paula” brought together a wonderful group of women who raised over $6,000 for the Paula Takacs Sarcoma Research Fund at Levine Cancer Institute.
