On May 14, 2014 more than 600 friends of the Martin Truex Jr. Foundation enjoyed the 5th annual Catwalk for a Cause. Festivities included gourmet food, a silent auction, raffle prizes, and of course, the spring runway show featuring the latest designers from the runways of New York. Walking the catwalk alongside adult models were nine special patients from Levine Children’s Hospital—the beneficiary of the event. Catwalk for a Cause was born of the vision and compassion of Martin and his long-time girlfriend, Sherry Pollex, who have a special place in their hearts for children suffering from cancer.
In 2010, the Martin Truex Jr. Foundation established the Martin Truex Jr. Pediatric Special Needs Fund at Levine Children’s Hospital to help families struggling to balance financial burdens with caring for a child who has complicated or long-term medical needs. At the close of the 2014 Catwalk for a Cause, a check for $60,000 was presented to Levine Children’s Hospital to support this fund and the Ryan Seacrest Studios at Levine Children’s Hospital—a closed circuit radio/TV station housed in the Overcash Atrium to broadcast interactive games, performances, and celebrity musical talent to every child’s room at the hospital.
We are grateful to Martin, Sherry, Sandy and the Martin Truex Jr. Foundation for their ongoing dedication to patients and families at Levine Children’s Hospital.
