On Saturday, February 21, several hundred women gathered together at Carmel Country Club to support the Carolinas Breast Cancer Fund. Celebrating its 19th year, the Queen of Hearts High Tea and Fashion show featured outfits from the Eileen Fisher boutique at Phillips Place, as well as a contest for “most stylish hat” among the attendees. The annual event is hosted by the Charlotte-based Venus Chapter of the Order of the Daughters of Penelope, an auxiliary of the American Hellenic Education Philanthropic Association (AHEPA), and its members are leaders in philanthropic and educational endeavors within local chapters in the United States, Greece and Cyprus.
In 2013, The Charlotte-based Venus Chapter was recognized for its $50,000 commitment to support breast cancer programs, education and research at Levine Cancer Institute (LCI) with a plaque dedication at one of the patient consult rooms within the Levine Cancer Institute Breast Center. This year’s Queen of Hearts High Tea and Fashion Show raised $11,000 for the Carolinas Breast Cancer Fund at LCI.
