Continuing a long-standing tradition of support for Carolinas HealthCare System’s cancer programs, the Carolina Panthers teamed up with more than 500 pediatric cancer advocates, survivors, donors, and sponsors to lead a successful 5th Annual Keep Pounding 5K Stadium Run on Saturday, May 9th.
Led by the generosity of event sponsors, including Rodgers Builders, Walmart Foundation, Horack Talley, Boingo Graphics and media sponsor WCCB Charlotte, as well as Top Fundraiser Tracy Gallimore (pictured and detailed below), supporters of the Keep Pounding 5K raised $45,000 in net proceeds to benefit pediatric cancer research at Levine Children’s Hospital. During this one-of-a-kind stadium run, runners and fans were joined by Sir Purr, the TopCats, Coach Sam Mills Jr., and Panthers defensive-end Frank Alexander at the 50-yard line to celebrate the occasion.
Each year in the United States, 10,000 children are diagnosed with cancer—and locally, more than 400 newly diagnosed patients will be treated at Levine Children’s Hospital. The Carolina Panthers remain vital partners in the fight against pediatric cancer in Charlotte, bringing hope to Levine Children’s Hospital patients and families year after year.
Fundraiser Spotlight: Tracy Gallimore
Special thanks to Tracy Gallimore, Top Fundraiser for the 5th Annual Keep Pounding 5K, for his awesome fundraising success again this year, raising over $7,000 to benefit pediatric cancer research at Levine Children’s Hospital! Since 2011, Tracy has collectively raised over $20,000 for cancer research at Levine Children’s Hospital through the Keep Pounding 5K.
We asked Tracy to share what inspires and motivates him to contribute so much to this cause and participate in the Keep Pounding 5K year after year. The self-described avid runner says the reason was simple, “I do this event because I am a loving father and want to help other loving families save their kids. I cannot imagine the burden of this disease. I believe that God put us here for relationships. When people are in need we are to respond. That is the call, to help and to love one another.” Tracy attributes his fundraising success to an amazing network of co-workers, customers, vendors, friends, and family who support his involvement in the Keep Pounding 5K every year.
Thank you, Tracy, for your tremendous dedication to children and families across Charlotte!
