Carolinas HealthCare Foundation | Report on Philanthropy 2012

The project was spearheaded by the Credit Union National Association, Carolinas
Credit Union Foundation, Credit Unions for Kids, and National Journal. More than 50
credit unions from North and South Carolina came together to help raise over $300,000
for the project. Now housing therapeutic play structures, shaded picnic tables, original
artwork, and two 55 inch touch screen interactive televisions, the rooftop playground
has been transformed into a personal oasis and private getaway for patients and
families at LCH.

The positive economic impact of the Democratic National Convention
(DNC) was felt by many in the city, including Levine Children's Hospital.
Teaming up with the DNC, local credit unions, leagues and chapters
rallied together to renovate the rooftop playground at Levine Children's
Hospital. The playground build is consistent with the Credit Union
practice of providing each convention city with a "leave behind" gift.

During the Democratic National Convention, distinguished guests
gathered on the rooftop of Levine Children's Hospital for the ribbon
cutting and unveiling of the new playground. "We're excited to put
the credit union philosophy of people helping people into action by
helping with this worthy project, and in the process join with the
Democratic National Convention to shine a light on the amazing work
that Levine Children's Hospital does for the communities it serves,"
added John Radebaugh, President and CEO of the North Carolina
Credit Union League.
