Carolinas HealthCare Foundation | Report on Philanthropy 2012

Sallie Boyle Phillips Family

In 2012, Sallie Boyle Phillips carried on her father's legacy of
giving back to Carolinas HealthCare System by honoring him with
a memorial gift in support of Levine Cancer Institute. Mrs. Phillips
committed $100,000 in recognition of B. Irvin Boyle, a prominent
Charlotte attorney who was a counselor and leader at Carolinas
HealthCare System throughout his adult life. In addition to his love
of the law, Boyle believed in community service and was active on
several boards, including over 40 years of combined service with
the boards of both Carolinas HealthCare System and Carolinas
HealthCare Foundation. The memorial gift from Mrs. Phillips
is designated for patient support activities at Levine Cancer
Institute and the Family Healing Lounge on Level 1 is dedicated
in memory of Mr. Boyle.

Today, a third generation
of the Phillips family is
emerging with strong
support for Carolinas
HealthCare System. Both
of Mrs. Phillips' children
have both become involved
in giving societies in support
of Levine Children's
Hospital (LCH). Her
daughter, Courtney Phillips
Hyder, is a member of the
DreamCatcher Society,
which funds special programs and equipment at LCH. Her son, Jordan Phillips, is active in the Starlight Society,
a group of young adults who volunteer and provide financial support for LCH.

We are honored by the extraordinary gifts and service provided by the Boyle and Phillips families to Carolinas
HealthCare System for three generations.
